titleWhat is
the public FIBO Wiki.  FIBO™ is the open industry “common language” standard for defining the terms, facts and relationships associated with financial contracts.  FIBO™ covers financial instruments (product reference data), market data pricing and financial processes in 30 FIBO Domains. This Wiki links to FIBO pages as they are created and made publically available.  This Wiki also points to pages managed by a FIBO Content Team (FCT) responsible for each of the FIBO Domains as they are proposed for update.  Individuals may request to be added to an FCT by sending an email to Dennis Wisnosky, or contacting any other member of the FIBO Leadership Team listed below.

FIBO is a project of the Enterprise Data Management Council  The EDM Council is a 501(c)(6) non-profit trade association founded by the financial industry to elevate the practice of data management as a business and operational priority.  The Council is a leading advocate for the development and implementation of data content standards and the publication of data management best practices.

The Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO) defines the sets of things that are of interest in financial business applications and the ways that those things can relate to one another. In this way, FIBO can give meaning to any data (e.g., spreadsheets, relational databases, XML documents) that describe the business of finance.

FIBO is hosted and sponsored by the Enterprise Data Management Council (EDMC) and is published in a number of formats for operating use and business definitions. FIBO is a trademark of EDM Council, Inc. It is also standardized by the Object Management Group (OMG).

FIBO is developed as an ontology in the Web Ontology Language (OWL). The language is codified by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and it is based on Description Logic. The use of logic ensures that each FIBO concept is framed in a way that is unambiguous and that is readable both by humans and machines.

FIBO Viewer

FIBO Viewer is an application that is specifically designed to access both the FIBO structure and its content in the easiest possible way. It can serve both as a web application and REST API. FIBO Viewer is an open-source project that is hosted by EDM Council. See
