Today we started working on SEC-164, investigating the PoolBackedSecurities ontology, which is the top of the hierarchy for asset-backed and mortgage-backed securities.  We reviewed the definitions from the CFI, and based on those and other definitions we found, determined that a pool-backed security should be a direct subclass of tradable debt instrument rather than a subclass of structured finance instrument (they are represented in parallel in the CFI).  We also looked for the definition of tranche, since the original definition of a pool-backed security states that it is a tranche of some pool.  We believe that should be min 0 rather than required, but found no definition of tranche that was standalone.  There is a definition for a senior CDO tranche in the CDO ontology, but not for tranche on its own.
